Melaza, from 2000, was Sanchez' fifth release on the Sony label. Five of the eight tracks on Melaza are Sanchez originals, with the highlight being "Cancion de Canaveral" (translated as "Song of the Sugar Cane") in which Branford Marsalis contributed as a guest.
