List of tunes for both in comment section.
Randy Weston, born in Brooklyn, New York in 1926, didn't have to travel far to hear the early jazz giants that were to influence him. Though Weston cites Count Basie, Nat King Cole, Art Tatum, and of course, Duke Ellington as his other piano heroes, it was Monk who had the greatest impact. In the late 60's, Weston left the U.S . but instead of moving to Europe like so many of his contemporaries, Weston went to Africa. He traveled throughout the continent tasting the musical fruits of other nations. "At the end," Weston says, "we all realized that our music was different but the same, because if you take out the African elements of bossa nova, samba, jazz, blues, you have nothing.........." .
"Zep Tepi" released in 2006 contains some extended plays from his earlier works. For details of "Zep Tepi" please see here and for "Khepera" here.

Gloria Coleman - Sweet Missy
The first album in many many years from organist Gloria Coleman -- the Hammond player best known for her famous 60s date on Impulse Records, still sounding pretty darn great here all these many years later! A good portion of the record features Gloria's husband, George Coleman joining in on tenor sax -- creating a sound that's a bit like the Shirley Scott/Stanley Turrentine groove of many years back -- but other numbers have Coleman on the Hammond, with guitar from either Calvin Keys or Eric Johnson, and drums from either George Coleman Jr or Deszon Claiborne. Lonnie Smith guests on piano on one track -- and the whole thing's got an easygoing soul jazz groove that's totally great! (Dusty Groove)

Wallace Roney
I. No Job Too Big Or Small (2003)
Like trumpeters Marsalis, Terence Blanchard, Roy Hargrove, and Philip Harper, Wallace Roney came to the jazz scene in the 1980s and became known as one of the "young lions." "No Job Too Big or Small" is a compilation of Roney's recordings in the late 80's and early 90's for Muse.

II. Crunchin (1994)
Very vibrant work from trumpeter Wallace Roney -- the sort of record that seems to burst out strongly even on the ballads -- which is no surprise, given Wallace's tone at the time! The group here is a strong one for Roney -- Antonio Hart on alto, Geri Allen on piano, Ron Carter on bass, and Kenny Washington on drums -- and although the tunes are mostly standards, Wallace voices them strongly as his one -- hitting hard with that Roney approach even at gentle moments, but sounding especially nice on the upbeat tracks. Alex Sipiagin was born outside Moscow, where he pursued classical studies and a passion for jazz—a music that was then considered a political challenge to the Soviet Union. As the Soviet system began to crumble, Sipiagin had the chance to travel to the US with a student band and to compete in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Trumpet Competition, where he placed fourth and received an instrument from Clark Terry. A year later he moved to New York and started landing gigs—with Gil Evans and Gil Goldstein, then later with the Mingus Big Band, Dave Holland, and Michael Brecker. Today, Sipiagin regularly performs, records and tours worldwide with Dave Holland, the various Mingus groups, and the Monday Michiru Band, as well as continuing to record and perform with his solo units. He is also an occasional guest teacher at NYU, and conducts clinics worldwide. As a soloist, Sipiagin has 7 recordings out to his credit, most notably with Criss Cross. "Mirrors" and "Returning" are his third and fifth releases respectively, as a leader, with Criss Cross.

Barbara Dennerlein - In A Silent Mood (2007)
In her own words on this album:
"Again and again my audience has been asking for a recording with purely ballads and at the same time people have been waiting for a new Solo CD. It was a big challenge to unite both and I spent as much time as possible to record music in a silent mood with a lot of space for breathing and rests to create tension and at the same time quietness. My intension was to record a very direct und pure organ sound and create a feeling of sitting inside of my Hammond B3 and the leslie, simultaneously featuring my very special footpedal technique."
