A bop-based guitarist, Mark Elf attended Berklee (1969-1971), picked up experience playing with a who's who of modern mainstream jazz (including Wynton Marsalis, Clark Terry, Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hampton, Branford Marsalis, and Slide Hampton), and has recorded as a sideman with Lou Donaldson, Freddie Hubbard, Joe Henderson, Wynton Marsalis, and others. On Glad to Be Back Mark Elf returns from a bout with cancer and a relatively long three-year hiatus and he's supported by formidable line-up -- pianist David Hazeltine, bassist Peter Washington and drummer Lewis Nash that matches Elf's fleet fingers on the strings.
