Born in Munich in 1964, Barbara Dennerlein started playing organ at the age of eleven. Just a few years later, aged fifteen, she performed regularly at local jazz clubs. "Hot Stuff" is her second album with the Enja label and her music here ranges from blues to advanced hard bop, which somehow quite differs from the Jimmy Smith/Joey DeFrancesco style. Personnel in the album are : Barbara Dennerlein (organ); Andy Sheppard (tenor saxophone); Mitch Watkins (guitar); Mark Mondesir (drums).

True or false. . .
All of the greatest Hammond organ players are only: large overweight American men, typically of African persuasion.
A: False.
Barbara D. is a killer B-3 player period, her pedal work is extraordinary.
