An off-the-cuff session by Joey Defrancesco (B3 organ), Guido Basso (flugelhorn/trumpet), Lorne Lofsky (guitar) and Vito Rezza (drums) produced by Toronto producer Peter Cardinali. They performed seven numbers in one continuous take. Unaltered by edits or overdubs emphasizing the power of improvisation.

Barbara Jungfer - Berlin Spirits (2005)

Jazz guitarist Barbara Jungfer was born and grew up in West Berlin, where she learned to play first blues, then jazz at jam sessions and from local musicians, she studied jazz guitar at the Hochschule für Musik, Köln (Cologne). She participated in various international jazz workshops, with jazz greats such as Enrico Rava, David Liebman, Kenny Werner, Kenny Wheeler and John Stowell. A versatile musician in various styles such as bebop, modern jazz, blues, funk, fusion, latin, she also engages herself in experimental and free music. She released two CDs as a leader, “Vitamin B3” (2001, yvp-music) and “Berlin Spirits” (2005, minor music).

Phil Ranelin - Inspiration

Phil Ranelin reunited with Wendall Harrison for the first time in 20 years to make this album (Wide Hive) and Pharoah Sanders joins them for the solo dedicated to their former friend and mentor John Coltrane (This One's for Trane). The album offers 10 original compositions, inlcuding tracks honoring Freddie Hubbard, J.J. Johnson, Horace Tapscott, John Coltrane, and Eric Dolphy.
Personnel for the session are: Phil Ranelin (trombone, cow bell, vocal), Keith Fiddmont (soprano and tenor saxophones, flute), George Harper Jr. (tenor saxophone, flute), Zane Musa (alto and soprano saxophones), Louis Van Taylor (bass clarinet, flute and alto flute, soprano saxophone), Danny Grissett (grand piano), Jeff Littleton (acoustic bass), Lorca Hart (drums), Taumbu (congas, various percussion)
With Special Guests: Pharoah Saunders (tenor saxophone on "This One's for Trane"), Wendell Harrison (tenor saxophone on "Beyond a Memory"), Michael Session (alto saxophone on "Spirit of Dolphy"), Dayna Sean Stephens (tenor saxophone on "Horace's Scope").

Out of the Blue - OTB (1986)

Kenny Garrett, Renee Rosnes, Harry Pickens, and Billy Drummond, among others were once part of Out Of The Blue, a group that was devised as a vehicle to feature some of Blue Note's top young jazz talents back in 1984. Their repertoire emphasized hard bop-oriented originals that extended the Blue Note legacy of the 1960s.
Other musicians who were once part of OOTB were bassist Kenny Davis, altoist Steve Wilson, trumpeter Michael Philip Mossman, tenor man Ralph Bowen, bassist Robert Hurst, drummer Ralph Peterson. The group recorded four albums from 1985-1989 and went on several well-received tours before eventually breaking up when its members developed their own solo careers.
