Ivan Paduart - True Stories

Ivan Paduart began conventional piano lessons at the age of 10, made his first attempts at improvisation on trumpet a little later, and discovered jazz when he was 17. After a start in the field of jazz-fusion, leading his own group AFTERTOUCH, he sees his main activity in what can be described as modern acoustic jazz. With influences of Bill Evans and Herbie Hancock, he has forged the individual sound and style which has earned recognition and appreciation from players like Richard Galliano, Tom Harrell, Toots Thielemans, Didier Lockwood, Philip Catherine, Claude Nougaro, Bob Malach, Charlie Mariano,. and everyone else he has made music with over the years. "True Stories" is only one of the many albums he has releases.

Helen Sung - Helenistique (2005)

This is the sophomore effort from jazz pianist Helen Sung. In this release she works with drummer Lewis Nash and bassist Derrick Hodge, a formation that prove to be very enjoyable to listen to; even the trio seemed to be enjoying themselves in playing the music. They cover some jazz standards from James P. Johnson,Thelonious Monk, Joe henderson as well as Duke ellington. Sung in particular plays the piano with confidence and authority injecting her own personality into some of the time-tested compositions such as Duke Ellington's "Cottontail", Thelonious Monk's "Bye Ya", Rodgers" Hart's "Lover" and several others.

Leni Stern - Kindness Of Strangers (2000)

Though Leni Stern's previous recordings (namely "Black Guitar - 1997", and "Words - 1995") have been pointing toward a stylistic leap, from award-winning fusion jazz guitarist to contemporary singer-songwriter, "Kindness of Strangers" still comes as something of a revelation. As accomplished as it is accessible, this album suggests that she's finally found her true voice in the studio -- writing, arranging and performing original material. Her guitar playing wanders around from being pop, rock to folk and jazz backed by some sweeping orchestral arrangements.
